What is contract hire?
Contract Hire means agreeing to take control of a car for a fixed period of time. You are given the freedom to drive the car and use it as your own … but you never actually own it.
Your agreement with the contract hire company is to make fixed monthly for the duration of the contractual period. At the end of the contract you return the car to the contract hire company.
The vast majority of contract hire is only available on brand new vehicles and not available to people with bad credit.
Here at VehicleFunding we have a van finance solution which is perfect if you have poor credit or have been rejected by other van finance lenders.
You can hire a new used vehicle on a fixed contract term of 36 months with no credit check.
Check our Credit Rating Guide to find out how mainstream lenders would view your credit status.
What are the pros and cons of contract hire?
Never actually owning the van can be a problem for some people. Psychologically it just doesn’t seem right to be paying for something you don’t own. However, if you have poor credit it may require a little compromise on your part to get the van you need for you business.
Besides the advantage of being able to actually obtain van finance, another advantage is that being able to return the vehicle at the end of the contract period and walk away. You can get a new vehicle without the hassle of having to sell the old one on.
Also, bear in mind that by the end of the contract hire term (assuming you have paid every month), you will have re-built your credit status, so you have more options the next time you want to get vehicle finance.
